PITTI is an acronym standing for Promotion of Innovation in Technologies and Techniques of Information.
Innovations in information technologies have really opened up new possibilities and shifted paradigms since the beginning of the century. The entire information value chain is concerned, from data production and storage, to conversion and processing, to distribution. And there is no sign of plateau. If anything, it’s accelerating. Everywhere you look, there seems to be more opportunities to learn and more opportunities to build. The ambition of the PITTI initiative is precisely to support these two processes, which we envisage as a loop : learning provides inspiration to build, and building is the most efficient and fun way to learn.
- Learning : we want to address key challenges and opportunities of the never-ending information revolution, and shed some light on innovative projects with applications across all sectors. We publish our own content such as insights, analyses or articles, and we curate a knowledge base with high-quality content from the web. We strongly believe in interdisciplinarity, so we have made it the cornerstone of our approach. Not because it is an important part of the storytelling in our articles, but rather because it is absolutely critical to comprehend highly specialized niches at a nascent stage. And we know from experience that different perspectives on practical issues can be very valuable. With regards to third-party content, we try to provide direct links as much as practicable (this is, in fact, all we store in our database). We do, nonetheless, assign categories/themes to third-party content and sometimes provide a summary or a commentary. We do our best to notify the Authors when we reference their work. In any case, if you are an Author whose content is cited on the website and you want to object to it, please reach out and we will remove it as soon as possible.
- Building : support can take the form of financial resources, technical resources, access to databases or just time to share experience with members of our network. Along the way, we also get to learn a lot from those who lead these projects with vision, passion and expertise. Most times, we get our hands dirty just for the beauty of it. PITTI can endorse third-party projects presented on this platform as they have all been subject to in-depth analyses, regardless of where they were in their maturation cycle : some are moonshots with no visibility on actual development, some have just reached the “proof-of-concept” stage and some are really thriving businesses. Our endorsement of the projects and our support to the individuals behind these projects do not represent investment advice. If you wish to submit an idea and/or seek support from us, please contact us.
Expanding the network
PITTI started as an individual initiative (that’s “PAP”, “I” or “me” in most articles and projects) but, from the outset, the intention was not to attach any individuality, background, role or personality to it. PITTI is all about curiosity and, if your curiosity is limitless, PITTI could also be you. Do not hesitate to reach out if:
- you want to contribute to the curation of the knowledge base (i.e. store your bookmarks and publish your content here). We can give you access. There is virtually no limit to the scope of the platform, and Strapi’s flexible solution on the backend (huge shoutout to them) allows to expand it to many more categories and themes that we just could not cover single-handedly
- you are interested in learning by building
- you are looking to teach people or support projects.
- If the diverse network we have built over time across a wide range of sectors and functions could be of help.
AI-friendly website: we are convinced that it’s important to continue to produce high-quality [human] content dealing with contemporary issues, in particular to train future generations of Artificial Intelligence systems. If you believe that our own content qualifies as “high-quality” and want to use it, we can facilitate to process of extracting it (for the avoidance of doubt, we would not facilitate extraction of third-party content). Please use this API endpoint to access the text content of all our own articles, without media or formatting.
We quote our sources, for any type of content, including illustrations. Media without sources must be deemed generated by AI and therefore cannot be considered a fair representation of facts. At the very best they must be considered illustrations of the concept of the described facts.
